Hanoi

After what literally felt like a stroll through northern Thailand and Laos, it was quite a shock arriving in Hanoi. It's not quite like Delhi, but nor is it like Luang Prabang.

Still it is exciting being back in a big city again, especially knowing that you'll be moving on again soon. The sheer intensity of all the exotic sights, and sounds the food and the people. It's all a kind of hyper-reality compared to back home. There's a rawness and intensity that we just don't see in our everyday lives.

What epitomised that more than anything for us was the famous 'Train Street' in Hanoi. It's just nuts!!

We were sitting next to a young couple from San Francisco when the train came through. I was photographing it as it approached us and turned around to get it as it receded. I accidentally caught one of our neighbours in the frame, it's pretty blurry but her expression just says it all.
